History : Physical Education and Sports Teacher Education Department; between the years of 1959-1970 depending on the Armed Forces School of Physical Education and Combat Sports; Between 1970-1974 National Team Camp Training Center belongs to the Ministry of Youth and Sports; between 1974-1982 served as Manisa Youth and Sports Academy.

Between 1982-1992 it is connected to Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Education Department as Physical Education and Sports teacher Education department . Then, 03.07.1992, on the name of Celal Bayar University; School of Physical Education and Sport College. The decision taken by the Council of Ministers on 26 September 2016 upon the proposal of the School of Physical Education and Sports in the foundation of Celal Bayar University, which was established with 3 departments with the date of 03.07.1992 and numbered 3837, was converted into Faculty of Sports Sciences with the publication of the Official Gazette dated 1 November 2016 .
Qualification Awarded : Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and Sport Teaching.

Specific Admission Requirements : To have a high school and a balanced school diploma and to get enough points from the relevant field of the Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS) made by the Center for Measurement, Selection and Placement (OSYM) and to get enough points from the talent exam.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) : The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their educaiton to obtain Bachelor’s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Celal Bayar University and hence of the Department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.

Profile of The Programme : Department of Teaching program consists of courses in sports science and teaching formation. Department training program teaching profession, area information, and includes required and elective courses related to general culture. Lectures are applied both theoretically and practically. In order to gain professional experience, students are interned for one year in schools.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples : Students who graduate from our department work as Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Schools, Primary and Secondary Schools, High Schools, Special Education Centers,. They are also an instructor at universities as an academician, as a coach in the Underground Structures of Sports Clubs, as an Animator or Sports Expert in different fields of the tourism sector and as a Coach in a elective Sports category .
Access to Further Studies : Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study at the postgraduate programs in their own field or in related fields, provided they have a valid grade in ALES and foreign language examination and have sufficient level of English language knowledge. (Ales minum 55, foreign language postgraduate 40, doctoral degree 55).
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Evaluation criteria for each course is determined by the faculty member who is teaching the course and this evaluation criteria is available on the University Course Information Catalogue. The students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam in the scope of each enrolled course. In addition to these, quizzes, homeworks, presentations, projects etc. are determined by the faculty member to be involved in the evaluation criteria. At the end of the year, the grades of the students are calculated by the combination of midterm and final exam grades, in-year activities and participation in class. When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The note that the student gets when calculating the success grade is converted to the letter grade in the relative system. The student must receive at least CC letter grades to be successful in a course. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered to be successful in grades. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.

Facilities : The total number of teaching staff in the Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department is 18. The department has facilities such as performance laboratory, computer lab, air conditioning laboratory, wellness center, training classrooms which are used in educational programs and scientific studies. In addition to these, Olympic outdoor swimming pool, sports hall, soccer field, tennis courts, athletic area and artistic gymnasium located within the campus are used in the school's education programs.
