Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science’s diploma and a score of not less than 55 points in the applied program from the Academic Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) to apply to the Master of Science program. Candidates must have at least 40 points from the Public Personnel Foreign Language Proficiency Examination (YDS) or the exam centrally organized by the Manisa Celal Bayar University Foreign Language Department or an equivalent scores from any of the foreign language exam accepted by the University Council. The above requirement is not required for the candidates who apply to the programs for which preparatory class is obligated or who succeed in the preparatory class in the undergraduate education. Achievement score in Master of Science programs is at less 65 points. Achievement score is the sum of the 50% of the ALES exam, 30% of the Bachelor of Science diploma score and 20% of interview. The score of candidates who do not enter interview are not calculated. Candidates who have a point of 65 or higher achievement score are listed according to their scores starting from the highest in Master of Science programs. Candidates in the quote receive a definitive registration right in the applied program. Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students enrolled to the Master of Science program may request exemption from the courses they have achieved in the equivalent programs at any of the other higher education institution. For the exemption from the courses they have achieved prior, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department within the next week of enrollment week.

To complete the Master of Science programs successfully, students must join at less eight courses in condition totally not less than twenty four national credits and a seminar and successful at preparation of thesis study; and complete at less 60 ECTS credits in an education-training year, totally 120 ECTS credits including seminar course and thesis study in a maximum six semesters.

Education-training and research activities at the Civil Engineering Division are carried on in five different sub-division such as Hydraulics, Mechanics, Geotechnics, Transportation, Structure. Civil engineers graduated from the Philosophy of Doctorate program, can be researchers in civil engineering field with sufficient knowledge and skill, and can serve in private sector institutions and organizations with respond to the needs of research-development needs by modern analysis techniques, scientifically creative and innovative and open to developments.

Civil engineers graduated from the Master of Science program can take charge in private and sector, public, municipalities or universities. One part of them serve to private and public sectors in their own officies. A certain part of graduates have continued or are continuning their doctorate education in Turkey or other universities around the world.

Students who have successfully completed the Master of Science program can apply to a Philosophy of Doctorate programs in the same area or different areas that accept civil engineering graduates.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

|
Exams are composed of mid-term, final and make-up exams. Other than exams, quiz, project, homework and other activates that the lecturer may consider appropriate can be applied. The number of these activities and the contribution to the achievement score are stated in the course plan by the lecturer. All exams can be applied as written, oral or both written and oral or practical. All exams are evaluated over 100 pointe and converted into letter grades by the system. Achievement score is calculated by taking not less than 50% of final exam and the percentage determined by lecturer of mid-term exam and other activates. Letter point limits are determined by the lecturer. The student must take at least a CC letter grade to be consider a successful for a course.
