History : The Department of Public Health was established in 1995. The Faculty consists of 3 professors and 1 Asscociated professor all whom are MD. in the department. Parallel to Master's degree courses, the department have engaged with Publich Health Specialist program as a departmet of School of Medicine as well.
Qualification Awarded : Master's degree in Public Health is awarded to the graduates who successfully complete all courses in the curriculum
Level of Qualification (Short Cycle , First Cycle , Second Cycle, Third Cycle) : Second Cycle
Specific Admission Requirements : In order to be able to enroll in this program, candidates must take at least 55 points from the numerical score of the Academic Postgraduate Placement Examination (ALES) conducted centrally by the Measurement Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The principles for accepting foreign students are determined by the Senate.

In order to be successful in the foreign language, candidates must take at least 40 points from YDS or equivalent points from any of the foreign language exams validated by the Inter-University Council. Those who apply to the programs for which the preparatory class is required for graduate education and those who succeed in the preparatory class in undergraduate education are not required.

In the master's program entrance exam, the grade of achievement must be at least 65 points. The success grade is the sum of 50% of the relevant ALES score, 30% of the undergraduate achievement grade and 20% of the interview grade. Success scores of students who do not enter the interview are not calculated.

Candidates whose achievement score is 65 or higher in the master's program are ranked according to their scores starting from the highest. Candidates in the quota receive a definitive registration for the programs they apply to.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) : Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stages in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Manisa Celal Bayar University is not an exception to this; however, exams of exemption are organized at the beginning of each school year for English Language and Computer Skills courses. Students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believes that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. Students who achieve a passing grade (65%) from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum. Also, the recognition of the previous formal education, vertical and horizontal transitions between universities are executed according to the "Legislation on the Principals about the Transition between Associate Degrees and Bachelor's Degrees, Double Major, Lateral Major and Credit Transfer between Institutions" that is determined by Turkish Council of Higher Education (YOK). If a student successfully completed a course in another institution, the department can waive that course if there is a corresponding course at Manisa Celal Bayar University and the content of that particular course is approved by the department faculty members.

Profile of The Programme : The aim of this program is to give insight and knowledge to postgraduate students on various subjects of the profession and put these knowledge and skills into practice.
Compulsory Semester project is only evaluated as successful or non-successful and has no credirt equivalents. Students should prepare a report at the end of the semester about this semester project.
The rate of compulsory attandence is 70%.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples : Graduates take the advantage of employment :
1- in higher education institutions as research staff and /or lecturer ;
2- in central and country-wide health service and administration facilities of Ministry of Health institutions
Access to Further Studies : Graduates who successfully completed the Master's Degree may apply to Doctorate (third cycle) programmes in the same or in related disciplines.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Evaluation criteria for each course are determined by the faculty member who is teaching the course and these evaluation criteria are available on the University Course Information Catalogue. The students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam in the scope of each enrolled course. In addition to these, quizzes, home-works, presentations, projects etc. are determined by the faculty member to be involved in the evaluation criteria. At the end of the year, the grades of the students are calculated by the combination of midterm and final exam grades, in-year activities and participation in class.

The department gives "MPH", "MPH (non-thesis)" courses and "Speciality in Public Health" degrees.
The existence of a Education and Research collaboration protocol between Medical Faculty deanery and MOH Manisa Province Health Directorate, gives the opportunity to conduct education and research activities to Public Health Department in Manisa no:1 Community Health (TSM) Disctict.
The deprtment serves multipurpose computer laboratory, a classroom endowed with hardware equipments and fundamental epidemiological and statistical softwares and audio-visual equipments. The deparment academic staff have access to both Faculty Library and Deparment bookshelve.
The department of public health have participated a number of national and international (EU FPs) individual and collaborative research projects on various subjects such as reproductive ehalth, health promotion and health related quality of life.
