After the foundation of the Faculty of Medicine on 1 March 1994, Professor Saliha SOYDAN from the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Ege University was temporarily appointed as the Acting Head of Department of Anatomy. Undergraduate education started in 1995-1996 academic year. In 1996, Assistant Prof. Tuncay VAROL was appointed to the Department. In 1999 Assistant Prof. Özlem ASLAN joined to the staff. In 2000, Assistant Prof. Prof. Tuncay VAROL got his Assoc. Prof. degree. Assistant Prof. Özlem ASLAN left the Deparment in 2000 and in 2001 Assistant Prof. Ertuğrul TATLISUMAK joined the Department. In 2002 Dr. Enis CEZAYİRLİ joined the staff as specialist of ANATOMY. In 2003 Dr. Enis CEZAYİRLİ was appointed as Assistant Prof. to the Department. In 2004, Dr. Ceyda HAYRETDAĞ ÖRS finished her specilisation in ANATOMY and was appointed to the Department as specialist. In 2006, Dr. Ceyda HAYRETDAĞ ÖRS was appointed to the Department as Assistant Professor. In 2007, Assoc. Prof. Tuncay VAROL was appointed as Professor. In 2009, Assistant Prof. Ceyda HAYRETDAĞ ÖRS left the Department. In 2010 Assistant Prof. Ertuğrul TATLISUMAK and in 2011 Assistant Prof. Enis CEZAYİRLİ got their Assoc. Prof. titles. In 2017 Assoc. Prof. Ertuğrul TATLISUMAK was appointed as Professor. Currently, Chairmanship of Anatomy Department is executed by Prof. Dr. Tuncay VAROL.

To register to graduate programs, candidates must have a bachelor's degree and take the score of not less than 55 points about the applied program in the Academic Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES).
To be successful in the foreign language, candidates must take at least 40 points in the Public Personnel Foreign Language Proficiency Examination (YDS). Those who apply to programs for which preparatory class is required for graduate education and those who succeed in preparatory class in undergraduate education are not required.
Entrance exams for the grade programs must be at least 65 points. Passing grade is the sum of the 50% of the ALES exam, 30% of the grade license score and 20% interview. Success scores of students who do not enter the interview are not calculated.
Candidates whose achievement score is 65 or higher in the master's program are ranked according to their scores starting from the highest. Candidates in the quota receive a definitive registration for the programs they apply to.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

If a student is enrolled in a postgraduate program at another university, then the courses taken at a graduate degree in the University will be counted as the minimum course load. To do this, they must submit the approved transcript and course content to the relevant unit within one week after the registration week with a petition.

A student in a master's program has to take a minimum of 8 courses (min 24 credits). The total duration of the program is four semesters. The total ECTS credit of the program is 120. A student in the graduate program must write the results of the thesis in accordance with the thesis writing rules of the relevant institute and defend his thesis verbally in front of the jury.

The objective of the Master of Science (MSc) in Human Anatomy program is to furnish students with the knowledge and experience to advance basic and applied knowledge in the field of Anatomy. We aim to provide teaching in the subject area that is broad based, intellectually coherent and multidisciplinary; that builds on skills and knowledge acquired previously within the program and is informed by a research base of international standard. The program is a two-year degree which encompasses both coursework and research. The first year involves mainly coursework and preliminary research preparation followed by MSc Thesis

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|
:
|
Exams consist of midterm, final and makeup exams. Other than the exams quizzes, projects, homeworks and other activities that the instructor deems appropriate can be carried out. The number of these activities and the contribution to the course grades are stated in the course plan by the teaching staff. Examinations can be done in written, oral, written and oral or practical. All exams are evaluated over 100 points and converted to letter grades by the system. Success grade is calculated by taking the percentages of midterm exams and other activities determined by the instructor provided that it exceeds 50% of the contribution of the final exam. The student must receive at least a CC letter grade in a lesson to be successful
