The Department of Political Science and International Relations has been accepting students in both formal (daytime) and second education (evening) programs since 2013-2014 academic year. The department offers 100% of its education in English.
The department is a part of Manisa Celal Bayar University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, which is the first higher education institution in Manisa. The historical origin of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences is based on Ege University, Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences which was established in 1975. Having started as an associate degree college of Accounting, the Faculty started undergraduate education in 1977-1978 academic year as School of Finance and Accounting. It was transformed into the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences under law no. 3389 issued in 1987.

Specific Admission Requirements

Citizens of the Turkish Republic are required to be successful in the Higher Institutions Exam (YKS) and their admission to the Department's undergraduate program is based on the score achieved in this exam. To get admission to the program, they also should not be registered to any other institution of higher education, except for faculties of Open Education. International students are also admitted to the program based on the scores they achieve in the Foreign Student Exam (YÖS). Admissions are limited to a certain quota.

Students enrolled in the program can be exempted from the courses they have successfully completed in other higher education institutions. It is also possible to be exempt from English Preparatory Program based on the student's score in the Exemption Exam.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To complete all the courses available in the program (30 ECTS per semester, a total of 240 ECTS credits) successfully, students are required to achieve 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average (GPA).

The department aims to equip students with the knowledge, analytical abilities, and critical thinking skills necessary to analyze, understand, and engage with developments and debates in politics and international relations. Additionally, the department focuses on imparting essential contemporary skills, such as entrepreneurship and effective communication in English.

Our graduates may be employed by a variety of public and private sector institutions such as international organizations, ministries, research institutes, universities, financial institutions, international trade companies, financial auditing companies, media organizations, etc.

Our students can pursue graduate studies based on their score in the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES). They are also expected to fulfill other requirements such a sufficient level of English Proficiency and GPA.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

The evaluation criteria for each course are set by the faculty member teaching the course and are detailed in the University Course Information Catalogue. Students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam for each enrolled course. Additionally, assessments may include quizzes, homework, presentations, and projects, as determined by the instructor.
All exams are graded on a scale of 100 points. To pass a course, students must achieve a minimum letter grade of CC. Grades of DC or DD indicate conditional success. Students with a GPA of at least 2.00 are eligible to graduate. If a student's GPA is below 2.00, they must retake any courses in which they received DC or DD and raise their GPA to 2.00 or above to graduate.

Facilities

The Department utilizes classrooms in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences building and shares two fully equipped computer labs with other departments. All classrooms are equipped with projection devices, and internet access is available throughout the campus. Students also have access to the university library’s extensive database.
Students can participate in the Erasmus exchange program, allowing them to study at a partner university for up to two semesters. The department’s faculty comprises two full professors, three associate professors, four assistant professors, one instructor, and three research assistants.
