In 2017, establishment works of the Department of Music started in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture of Manisa Celal Bayar University; and it started bachelor education in 2018-2019 education year. The Department of Music, which provides education at the level of formal education, consists of the branches of Turkish Music, Musicology and Music Technology.

- Be able to have a high school diploma or equivalent. - Be able to obtain a score of at least 180 points or more from the TYT examination conducted by the Ölçme, Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi (ÖSYM). - Be able to get enough score from the Special Ability Test.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students enrolled in the program may be exempted from the courses they have achieved in their previous higher education institutions. Also; The exemption exam is opened at the beginning of each academic year for The Foreign Languages, related committees proposals, and the courses approved by the Senate. Students who score 65 or more from the exemption exam are exempted from these courses.

In order to get a bachelor's degree from the Department of Music, compulsory and elective courses with 240 ECTS (30 points for one school term) are required to be successfully completed. In addition to this requirement, the overall academic average must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
|

The aim of the music program is to combine the creation of a free and original creation process with the discipline of work as the basic approach of art education and nourish it with applied and theoretical studies. In line with this aim, compulsory courses and elective courses are defined in the program.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
|

|
Students who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture Department of Music can be employed as instrument and/or voice artist in Choirs of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism or TRT; (if Formation Training taken) master instructors in private sector institutions. In addition, graduates who meet the criteria of being a faculty member in universities can also work as academicians in these institutions. Due to social and cultural development in Turkey and the world, demand for graduates especially in the Turkish music relative increased. Turkish music experts and lecturers also needed for newly established universities. The above range of job sites is an important example of employment related to changes in the definition of the profession element for Turkish music graduates. Briefly graduates of Turkish music has a significant employment opportunities in Turkey.

Access to Further Studies

Upon successful completion of their bachelor's degree, our graduates can apply for master's and doctoral studies at national and international higher education institutions if they have valid grades from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of foreign languages.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|
:
|
At least one midterm exam is held for each course. Students are assessed in two stages as a midterm and a final exam. Except for midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities deemed appropriate by the instructor can be done. The number of these activities and their contribution to the grade are indicated by the instructor in the course plan. Passing grades calculated as the total of 40% for midterm exam and 60% for final exam. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The grade taken by the student calculated and converted into a letter grade in the relative system.
In order for a course to be considered successful, the student must take CC as a minimum of a letter grade. For the students with at least 2.00 GPA, (DC) and (DD) are considered successful in the courses they take. Students who do not have an unsuccessful course but have a GANO of less than 2.00 are required to take their courses (DC) and (DD) again to improve them in order to graduate.

In order to complete the program successfully, it is required to pass all the courses available in the program (240 ECTS) and to obtain at least 2.0 weighted grade point average over 4.00.

Facilities

Our department provides Turkish education. There is an open library for students. In two of the classrooms, it has become possible to use writing boards for use in collective courses. There are digital pianos in both classrooms. In our department there are 3 Academic Members, 2 Teaching Assistants and 4 Research Assistants.
