Our school has a long and distinguished history with following different names: "Primary Teacher School (1964), Teacher High School (1974), Teacher High School And Institute of Education (1975), Institute of Education (1981), Education High School (1982), Center For Teacher Education (1982-1983), Education High School For Bachelors (1989), Faculty of Education (1992). With the decree number. 41 and law number 2809, it changed its name to Education High School as it was affiliated to Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Faculty of Education in 1982. Our department was founded in 2011 and will accept its first students in 2014-2015 education year.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students enrolled in the department and those who come in the horizontal and vertical transitions can be exempted from the courses they have achieved in the other higher education. Also, an exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the courses proposed by the relevant committees and the approval of Senate. Students who score 65 or more on the exemption exam are exempted from these courses.

Student must successfully complete all of the courses in the four-year program, in order to graduate. This degree is given to students who pass all courses in the curriculum, successfully complete a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and obtain an overall grade point average of at least 2.00 / 4.00.

Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department with its four-year undergraduate curriculum aims to educate qualified guidance counselors who are aware of contemporary developments and innovations in their field. Within the frame of this purpose, there are different courses with the aim of developing the career knowledge as well as field information and general knowledge of students.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
|

Graduates of Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department work in public and private schools run by the Ministry of National Education as guidance counselors. They may also work in private psychological counseling and psychotherapy centers as counselors. In addition to these, they may find a settlement in the institutes run by the government such as police departments, health departments, navy and justice departments.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

The semester grades are determined by adding forty percent of the midterm exam and sixty percent of the final exam grade. In some courses, additional work such as projects, presentations, and assignments can be expected from students. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The grade of students is converted to letter with relative evaluation. The student must take at least CC to be considered successful. Students with a GPA at least 2.00 are considered to be successful in the courses they take (DC) and (DD). Students who did not fail courses but whose GPS is less than 2.00, must first take the courses whose letter is (DC) or (DD) and increase their GPAs above 2.00 in order to graduate.
