Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stages in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Celal Bayar University is not an exception to this; however, exams of exemption are organized at the beginning of each school year for English Language and Computer Skills courses. Students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believes that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. Students who achieve a passing grade (65%) from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum. Also, the recognition of the previous formal education, vertical and horizontal transitions between universities are executed according to the "Legislation on the Principals about the Transition between Associate Degrees and Bachelor's Degrees, Double Major, Lateral Major and Credit Transfer between Institutions" that is determined by Turkish Council of Higher Education (YOK). If a student successfully completed a course in another institution, the department can waive that course if there is a corresponding course at Celal Bayar University and the content of that particular course is approved by the department faculty members.
