Our school has a long and distinguished history with following different names: "Primary Teacher School (1964), Teacher High School (1974), Teacher High School And Institute Of Education (1975), Institute Of Education (1981), Education High School (1982), Center For Teacher Education (1982-1983), Education High School For Bachelors (1989), Faculty of Education (1992)"
Our department graduates highly qualified teachers under the name "Branch of Social Studies Teaching in Social Studies and Turkish Education Department".

To have a high school and a balanced school diploma and to get enough points from the relevant field of the Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS) made by the Center for Measurement, Selection and Placement (OSYM) and to get enough points from the talent exam.

Students enrolled in the program and those who come in the horizontal and vertical transitions can be exempted from the courses they have achieved in the higher education institutions they have already studied. Also; An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the proposals of the relevant committees and the courses approved by the Senate. Students who score 65 or more on the exemption exam are exempt from these courses.

Profile of The Programme

The purpose of the Department of Social Studies Education is to train professional staff equipped with scientific knowledge and skills as Social Studies teacher to serve in the public and private elementary schools. For this purpose, , domain knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and general culture courses are both theoretically and practically carried out under the guidance of the expert faculty members in accordance with the Higher Education set by the Board of Social Studies U.S. framework program.

A bachelor's degree, the ALES score, the foregein language exam (YDS) score, getting enough points on the science exam and interview are necessary for the transition to master degree.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|
:
|
Evaluation criteria for each course is determined by the faculty member who is teaching the course and this evaluation criteria is available on the University Course Information Catalogue. The students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam in the scope of each enrolled course. In addition to these, quizzes, homeworks, presentations, projects etc. are determined by the faculty member to be involved in the evaluation criteria. At the end of the year, the grades of the students are calculated by the combination of midterm and final exam grades, in-year activities and participation in class. When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The note that the student gets when calculating the success grade is converted to the letter grade in the relative system. The student must receive at least CC letter grades to be successful in a course. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered to be successful in grades. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.
