Salihli Vocational School of Manisa Celal Bayar University was founded in 1992 to give two-year education. Local Administrations Programme was established on the 17th of February, 1993 in accordance with the law no. 2837 published in the formal newspaper of Turkish Republic with the number 21281 under the management of Manisa Celal Bayar University Rectorate. The programme has started to give the second education in 1998-1999 academic year.

The students accepted to the department of Local Administrations need to have graduated from the related departments of high schools. Also, students graduated from high schools those who have graduated from state school having the required points in the related area and placed by ÖSYM can register to the program according to the ÖSYM's calendar.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students enrolled in the program can be exempted from the courses they have achieved in the higher education institutions they have already studied. Also; An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the proposals of the related boards and the courses approved by the senate. Students who score 65 or more on the exemption exam are exempt from these courses.

To successfully complete the program, they can graduate on condition that they pass all the courses available in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS), obtain a GPA of 2.00 over 4.00, and complete compulsory internships.

The aims of this programme can be outlined as follows; to supply an overall and comprehensive outlook on local governments issues both national and international level, to develop analytical skills to comprehend legislation issues in details to put into practice on any local governance body and to deliver new theoretical approaches and praxis relating to local governments in the EU.

Graduates of this program will meet the needs of employees in various units of public institutions and local government agencies. According to this; graduates of the program will be able to work in public institutions, in local administrations, in particular as officer in the municipalities, but also in various positions in universities and the private sector.

Access to Further Studies

The students who successfully completed all the courses and awarded with associate degree can continue their study in the department of Public Administration or Political Science of Faculties if they could succeed in the placement through a centralized national university placement examination.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

|
There is at least one midterm exam for each course. Whether the students are successful in the courses they are taking are evaluated in two stages, one midterm and one final exam. Other than midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities that the instructor deems suitable can be done. The contribution of these activities to the number and grade of achievement is indicated by the instructor in the course plan. When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The student must take a CC as a letter grade so that a dersten can be considered successful. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered successful in the courses they take. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is under 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to graduate and increase their GANO to 2.00 in order to graduate.
