History : Manisa Celal Bayar University Salihli Vocational High School was established in 1992. Fashion Design Programme was founded within the scope of Design Department was established in 2008-2009 academic year to educate innovative fashion designers who are equipped with the appropriate qualitites for the fast nature of the fashion industry that renews itself every season and have the ability of realizing aesthetic and contemporary designs by following all cultural, artistic and technological developments closely.
Qualification Awarded : Associate Degree in Fashion Design
Level of Qualification (Short Cycle , First Cycle , Second Cycle, Third Cycle) : Pre Bachelor
Specific Admission Requirements :
It is necessary to have a high school diploma and to get enough points from the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) field of Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) : Students who enroll in the program of courses in higher education institutions may be exempted from the previous education they have achieved. In addition, foreign language courses, and the relevant Committee of the Senate and the recommendation of appropriate courses for the exemption exam at the beginning of each academic year opens. In the exemption exam, students with a grade of 65 or higher will be exempt from this course.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : To be successful in all of the courses predicted in the program (a total of 120 ECTS credits), to get a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and to complete compulsory internships.

Profile of The Programme : Department of Design, Fashion Design Programme aims to train the designer profile that Turkish Textile and Fashion Industry needs globally.This target is to make students as designers who can present original design ideas, market and trend research, equipped with modern pattern making and sewing techniques, and can use correct presentation, marketing, sales and communication techniques.

The programme requires to complete 120 ECTS in four semesters. In each semester,the students can study both required and optional courses. Vocational (branch) courses are compulsory for students to learn the relevant area of expertise..The optional courses are determinated according to the student's personal developments and school conditions. Internship is an education for the students in the related sector.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples : Students who graduate from the Fashion Design Programme have a wide range of business opportunities in line with their qualifications.
In the sector, They can work as;

1. Fashion designer (stylist),
2. Pattern expert (modelist),
3. Accessory designer,
4. Textile designer (pattern, fabric designer) or
5. Fashion entrepreneur. They can design their own garments by opening their own fashion houses or studios.

In addition to the design departments of the apparel industry, they can work as product and brand manager or purchasing specialist in:
6. Collection planning, cutting, pattern-making, production, quality control and marketing departments,
7. Weaving-knitting-printing departments,
8. Pattern design, product development departments of textile factories,
9. the import / export units and customer relations departments of fashion enterprises,
10. Computer-aided textile and design programs marketing and training institutions,

In addition to graduates own fields, they can work as:
11. Fashion editor, fashion photographer, fashion and style consultant for fashion magazines,
12. Fashion marketer and visual / showcase organizer for fashion retailing,
13. Virtual / online fashion retailer
14. Costume designer in the performing arts industry,
15. Member of fashion agencies (fashion accessories, catwalk, light, sound, effects, choreography, music, etc.) or
16. or they can prepare collections / patterns as freelance designers for more than one fashion brand.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading :
At least one midterm exam for each course are applied. Students are assessed whether they are successful in the courses they take or not in two stages, one midterm and one final exam. Other than midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities that the instructor deems suitable can be done. The contribution of these activities to the number and grade of achievement is indicated in the course plan by the instructor. When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. In order for a student to be considered a successful , he must obtain CC as a minimum grade. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered to be successful in grades. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.
