History : Food Technology Program; It was established with the decision of Higher Education Council dated 08.02.1994 and B.30.0.EBÜ.0.00.00.03 / 06.02 / 456/3945 and started teaching activities for the first time in 1994-1995 academic year. Second education has been made since 1999-2000.

Specific Admission Requirements : Candidates must have a high school and a balanced school diploma and a certificate showing that the related division has been placed by taking sufficient points from the Higher Education Transfer Examination (YGS 2) conducted by the Center for Measurement, Selection and Placement (ÖSYM).
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) : Students enrolled in the program can be exempted from courses they have achieved in the higher education institutions they have studied. Also; An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the proposals of the related boards and the courses that the senate considers appropriate. Students who score 65 or more on the exemption exam are exempt from these courses.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : In order to obtain the associate degree from the Food Technology Program, it is necessary to successfully complete the required and elective courses for a total of 120 ECTS in the form specified in the training program. In addition to this, it is necessary that the GPA is at least 2.00 over 4.00
Profile of The Programme : The program provides theoretical and practical training at the level of two-year associate degree. In small, medium and large-scale enterprises producing all kinds of food, necessary intermediate technicians are being trained at every stage of production and quality control from raw material to final product. Each year, 35 students are enrolled in the program at the vocational high school.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples : Graduates are employed in all food processing enterprises, production departments or in chemistry, microbiology, quality control and R & D laboratories. In addition, they work in various public and private analysis laboratories, TÜBİTAK, Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and TSE laboratories.
Access to Further Studies : Graduates can enter the Vertical Transition Exam and make a vertical transition to the Engineering Departments of the Engineering Faculty or to the Nutrition and Dietetic Departments.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Written, practical and oral evaluations are made for each course separately. Students are assessed whether they are successful or not from the courses they have taken in two stages, one midterm and one final exam. Other than midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities that the instructor deems suitable can be done. The contribution of these activities to the number and grade of achievement is indicated in the course plan by the instructor. These assessments are converted into achievement grades with the weight determined and announced for the courses and the course participates in the cumulative academic average proportional to the ECTS value. Success grade is converted to letter grade with relative evaluation system. For a student to be considered a successful, he must obtain CC as a minimum grade. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are successful in grades. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.
Graduation Requirements : Completion of 120 ECTS credits from four semesters, as well as successfully completing 20 + 20 workday summer internship.

Facilities : The Food Technology Program provides practical training as well as theoretical knowledge. The applications of the lessons are carried out in two food technology laboratory, food chemistry laboratory, food microbiology laboratories, computer laboratories and food industry establishments in the field of Saruhanlı Vocational School and equipped with necessary equipments, equipment and consumables. Students learn the production of foodstuffs and perform an individual analysis they are able.
