Upon successful completion of this programme, the enrolled students will be gaining the following knowledge, skills and competences ;
1- to gain advanced knowledge of English language, literature and culture
2- to gain advanced knowledge on literatures in English (USA, Canada, South Africa and Australia)
3- to be aware of the cultural and historical dynamics of the relationship between language and literature
4- to be able to conduct interdisciplinary research
5- to acquire skills in analytical thinking
6- to be able to apply critical, historical, semantic, philological, rhetorical and linguistic analysis to literary texts
7- to be able to do research at libraries and archives in their own fields
8- to be able to compare World literatures and cultures, including Turkish culture and literature, with English literature and culture
9- to use their knowledge to generate new ideas in critical processes
10- to transfer their knowledge and critical insight gained through culture and literature into different areas (teaching, tourism, translation, international relations and editorship)
11- to gain the ability to learn new theories and methods on their own accord
12- to be able to carry out scientific research and work on such projects
13- to use interpretation, logic and analytical skills in the process of independent thinking
