Manisa Celal Bayar University Salihli Vocational High School Child Care and Youth Services Department started its formal education in the "Child Development Program" with a quota of 50 students in the 2008-2009 academic year. As of the 2013 – 2014 academic year, Child Development Distance Education program was opened in the department and education service was started in the same year. Child Development Distance Education Program is the only distance education program that provides education within Salihli Vocational School. In addition to theoretical and applied courses for four semesters within the framework of vocational qualifications, the program students studying in our department do internship at pre-school education institutions or special education and rehabilitation centers for 30 working days within the scope of Industrial Based Education at the end of the second year.

In order to have high school or equivalent school diploma, it is necessary to get enough points in the Basic Proficiency Test of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Students enrolled in the program can be exempted from the courses they have achieved in the higher education institutions they have already studied. Also; An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the proposals of the related boards and the courses approved by the senate. Students who score 65 or more on the exemption exam are exempt from these courses.

Profile of The Programme

The objective of the Child Development Programme is to produce individuals who support the development and education of healthy children and youths, or those requiring special care, in pace with changing scientific, technological, educational and health requirements, and who illuminate families and society on the healthy development and educational needs of the child. Another objective is to train child development personnel who are capable of taking charge of the care, protection and education of children, who are ethically responsible, who are capable of creative and critical thinking, who are sensitive to social issues, and who are respectful towards diversity and human rights.

Our graduates are as teacher assistant in preschool education / teacher assistant in special education; technical education for girls and vocational high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education are employed in Rehabilitation Centers, children's clubs, special education institutions and classes where integration training is conducted in primary education schools and pre-school education institutions such as kindergartens, kindergartens and kindergartens of public and private institutions.

Access to Further Studies

Two-year graduates of this program, conducted by OSYM exam at the end of the vertical transition can continue to the undergraduate programs of "Pre-School Education" and "Child Development and Education Teacher" of the universities.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

|
There is at least one midterm exam for each course. Whether the students are successful in the courses they are taking are evaluated in two stages, one midterm and one final exam. Other than midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities that the instructor deems suitable can be done. The contribution of these activities to the number and grade of achievement is indicated by the instructor in the course plan. When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The student must take a CC as a letter grade so that a dersten can be considered successful. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered successful in the courses they take. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is under 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to graduate and increase their GANO to 2.00 in order to graduate.

The programme consists of theoretical and applied courses related to the development and education of children aged 0-18 years. The applied courses contain individual and group education aimed at developmentally normal children or those requiring special care. All courses are undertaken together with field observations and practical work experience. These are carried out at public and private preschool education institutions and special education schools, and special education and rehabilitation centres. • There are well-equipped, project-supported classrooms in which the theoretical and practical courses can be taught in the Child Development Program. • Children and Drama, Children and Play classes are held in the conference hall with projection, sound system equipment and internet connection. • There is a large (630 acres) educational area where various sports activities and vocational training can be carried out. • In the department, there are various conferences and educational studies supported by current trainers through specialized trainers.
