History : Manisa Celal Bayar University Soma Vocational School Department of Machine and Metal Technologies was first founded in 1996-97 academic year as Industrial Machinery Program. In the 2002-2003 academic year, it sustained to educate technicians as Machinery Program in scope of METEP project. Since January, 2011 education continues as Machinery Program under Machine and Metal Technologies Department. Since the academic year 2016-2017, in the machine program passed Vocational Training in Workplace (3 + 1).

Specific Admission Requirements : Admission to the vocational school is arranged within the framework of Turkish Higher Education Council law and decisions. Students are admitted to the Machinery Program in accordance with the Higher Education Entrance Examination . Students taking enough points from TYT(The Basic Proficiency Test) are admitted to the Machinery Program.
Documents required for the registration;
1 - High school diploma or its equivalent,
2 - Student placement examination result given by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM)
In addition, students of the Mining Technology, Mechatronics and Occupational Health and Safety program within Soma Vocational School who meet the Double Major Program criteria are recruited for this program.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) : Students enrolled in the program can be exempted from the courses they have achieved in the higher education institutions they have already studied. Also; An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the proposals of the related boards and the courses approved by the senate. Students who score 65 or more on the exemption exam are exempt from these courses.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : Students should fulfill 120 ECTS which has been predetermined at department programme including must and elective courses. Vocational Training in Workplace are required to complete their education. In addition, Grade Point Average must be at least 2.00/4.00 to earn Pre-Bachelors degree for machine program.
Profile of The Programme : During the training period, acquired knowledge, skills and behavior, the production levels of basic skills to be able to generate work. Levels of production needed by the industrial sector and the production of machine components design, machining and manufacturing looms Chipless, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, CNC machines and CAD-CAM programs have the ability to work on the necessary knowledge and sufficient to meet the need for intermediate members.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples : Graduates in the relevant sections of factories operating in the public sector and industry, engineers and technicians between the intermediate staff (technicians) are trained to meet the need. Work on the structure of the institution, all kinds of mechanical systems, machine tools manufacturing, installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis can make. Technicians also can open their own private businesses.
Access to Further Studies : Our graduate students can transfer to undergraduate programs determined by YÖK with the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) and to some departments through open education.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : At least one midterm and one final exam are given for each course. Other than midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities that the instructor deems appropriate can be done. The contribution of these activities to the number and grade of achievement is indicated in the course plan by the instructor. Success grade is calculated by taking 40% of midterm grade and 60% of final grade. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Success grade is evaluated by relative evaluation system and converted into letter grade. The student must take at least a CC letter grade to be considered a successful dersten. Students with a GPA score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered to be successful in grades.

Students are required to submit a maximum of three grades (DD), (DC), or (CC) to students who fall below GPA 2.00 for a maximum of three courses that fail to achieve graduation and have not received a final (FF) or (FD) Three courses are entitled to an additional exam. The score taken from the supplementary exam will replace the grade of success. The student shall be entitled to the additional exam at the end of each semester.
Graduation Requirements : To be successful in all of the courses available in the program (120 ECTS credits) and achieve a GPA of at least 2.00 over 4.00. In addition, they can graduate on condition completed their Vocational Training in Workplace.

Facilities : The machine program provides training in Turkish. There are computer laboratories, hydraulic-pneumatic laboratory, mechanical workshop, underground training center and library available for students' use.
